Did you know...?

There are enough ethyl alcohol molecules in interstellar space to make a

Comet Holmes by D. VidaYesterday (November 13th) finally one clear and cold night, a real opportunity to check out comet Holmes (photographed by D. Vida on November 1st, on the left image, see more in our gallery).

Wow..  It barely fits into apparent field of a 40 mm ocular (with our Celestron 8), it looks fantastic. It has a nice tail and it's a real joy to watch. If it weren't for the misunderstanding concerning the camera, we would have photographed it, but  nevertheless the three of us, brave enough to freeze (Vida, Đuro and me) enjoyed the view very much. I wasn't aware it is visible so well... A little denser in the middle, and the tail, thinner and thinner. Great!

M42 nice as always. Vida photographed Mars, but I don't know if he succeeded. BTW, Mars, you dissappointed me, I expected more from you. Only a colorfull smear. Atmosphere, you didn't help either.  All in all, we froze ourselves good.
