Comet SWAN fades away
Beautiful and warm autumn with lots of clear nights was complemented by comet Swan. At the end of October it suddenly brightened to almost 4th magnitude and gave us an opportunity for watching and photography.
Now it silently fades away moving towards the western orizon and constellation Aquila.
On friday, October 27th, 2006 we gathered from many places (even 250km distant Zagreb). There were seven of us (Ana, Bac, David, Gaj, Gogo, Ivica and Maki), three cars, two telescopes (Celestron C-8 and Meade ETX-90), some cookies and beverages, and plenty of fog. We settled on the field near the road to Bocanjevci.
Then came speedy alignment of the telescope, design and construction of the photo adapter on-the-fly, and tedious focusing of the camera. By the end the comet was already very low in the west and the fog was getting thicker. Nevertheless, we managed to take few photos of the comet and globular cluster M13. All in all, it was one delightful observation. Take a look at our photographs of M13 and comet Swan
