New option in Google's global map is called Google Sky and with it you can watch the night sky from every location on Earth. Google Sky shows over 100 million stars and 200 million galaxies. To put all this together, Google experts merged over one million sky photographs from different sources.
Just like in Google Earth, users will be able to add textual and pictorial information to create new information layers about the sky.
You can enjoy constellations of Andromeda, Hydra, Vulpecula or many others if you download Google Sky which has been added to new version of Google Earth (download here) .Although Google Sky was treated as new and revolutionary and that it would bring the stars to those who don't own a telescope, there are dozens of other programs which show the sky. One of the best free planetariums is Stellarium which offers a bunch of options like scripting, projections, control over time (to see past or future eclipses, oculltations, etc.). Google will have to work real hard to make Google Sky famous through it's possibilities and not through advertising. Source: T-portal Wolfwood's crowd
